Name: Peter Walsh
Job Role: Area Director, Balfour Beatty
Running For: Friends of The Royal London Hospital (Whitechapel)

What inspired you to run for the Hospital Friends?

I first ran the London 10K back in 2013 whilst working on the Crossrail contract in Whitechapel.  The project partnered with Friends of The Royal London Hospital as part of our Social Value strategy to support local charities and I’ve continued to support the Hospital Friends each time I’ve completed this run.  I have seen the amazing work that the charity provides and will always support the charity when running the London 10K.

What are your goals in taking part in the Asics London 10k

I’m more of a fun-runner these days so the buzz of the event completing the run with friends adds to the enjoyment.  To run around an amazing city provides immense satisfaction and the goal is really to help generate support for the charity and enjoy the day!

Tell us something personal about what running and/or supporting charities mean for you?

Running is a great way to keep fit both mentally and physically and to gain these benefits whilst supporting a charitable cause makes any effort extra worthwhile.

If you would like to see who else is running, make sure to have a look at their running profiles, or if you would like to donate click here.

The Friends of the Royal London Hospital is a charity dedicated to improving hospital amenities for both patients and staff. It has links to the Residential Support Department at Queen Mary University and is also connected to Queen Mary medical students, who complete some of their course at the Royal London Hospital.
